Apollo 8 Flown American Flag [and] Embroidered Mission Insignia Patch on Crew-Signed Certificate, Presented to Deke Slayton and Originally from His Personal Collection, in Original Framed Display. This 5.75" x 4" cloth U.S. flag and 4.625" x 4" triangular-shaped embroidered mission patch (Crew Souvenir Patch by Texas Art), both flown in orbit around the moon on man's first mission there, have been mounted to a 13" x 10" (sight size) parchment-type paper. Beneath the flag is printed "To Deke Slayton, Thanks for all your help" with the crew's bold signatures below: "Frank Borman", "James Lovell", and "Bill Anders". To the right, the certificate reads: "Carried on Board Apollo 8/ First Lunar Flight/ 21 - 27 December, 1968". An extremely rare and desirable space relic with two items flown on this landmark mission and originally presented to a legendary Mercury Seven astronaut and NASA official. Framed to an overall 16" x 13". Numerous scratches on vintage frame, otherwise near excellent. From the Family Collection of Jacques Bracke.
