Description

"This Historic Flight Plan has been a treasured part of my personal space collection since 1972, and serves as a reminder to me of those final historic footprints that I placed on the Moon for all mankind!" -Gene Cernan

Apollo 17 Lunar Module Flown "Lunar Surface Flight Plan" Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Gene Cernan, Signed & Certified on Each Page, with Signed Certificate of Authenticity. Seven pages (four leaves) numbered "a" through "g", on 8" x 5.5" on cardstock, three hole punched and held together with binder rings. Pages a-g are stamped "Landed on the Moon aboard the Apollo 17 LM 'Challenger'" and signed "Gene Cernan". The back page bears a 4" x 3.25" label stating: "The Eugene A. Cernan Space Collection/ This is the complete and authentic Apollo 17 Lunar Surface Flight Plan/ used on the Moon during the final lunar landing. [signed] Gene Cernan/ Eugene A. Cernan/ Apollo 17 Commander" The 2009-dated COA has a photo of Cernan holding the book and is also signed. A one-of-a-kind rarity worthy of the most sophisticated of Space collections. Near excellent.

The item offered here is a detailed timeline section from the Apollo 17 "LM Lunar Surface Checklist" book outlining procedures from the time the Lunar Module Challenger undocked from the Command Module America in lunar orbit at 108:00 (Ground Elapsed Time) through their three EVAs, to the ascent liftoff and re-docking with the CM at 187:37 (GET), and the stowage of equipment and samples at 191:18 (GET). In the words of Gene Cernan (from the COA):

"During our flight, we carried a seven-page flight plan with us to the lunar surface aboard our lunar module, which recorded from the time we undocked for lunar landing until we returned and jettisoned our 'LM'. This flight plan is especially historic because it records both mankind's final 'Apollo' landing on the Moon, and also mankind's final moonwalk, which I accomplished on page 'f' of this checklist ('EVA-3')! This flight plan spent over three days on the lunar surface housed within our Lunar Module 'Challenger', during which time it resided within the Moon's one-sixth gravitational field and the vacuum of deep space!"
