Description
Apollo 17 Flown Flag on Presentation Certificate. A 5.75" x 4" cloth U.S. flag mounted to a 14" x 11" illustrated certificate reading: "In recognition of your outstanding contribution to the manned space flight programs. Presented to Eddie J. Lemons", signed: "Christopher C. Kraft Jr." as director, Johnson Space Center, and dated "February 1981". Beneath the flag is printed: "This flag was carried to the Moon aboard the spaceship America/ Apollo XVII December 7-19, 1972". Lemon was in Flight Operations at NASA; this was likely presented upon his thirty years of service anniversary. Toning, light creasing, glue stains on flag, and one tear at top edge; all could likely be mitigated by a professional restorer. Very good.Auction Info
