Description

Apollo 17 Flown Flag on Presentation Certificate, with Certificate of Authenticity from University Archives, in Framed Display. A 5.75" x 4" cloth U.S. flag that flew with Cernan, Evans, and Schmitt on the last manned lunar landing. It is mounted to a 14" x 11" illustrated certificate reading: "In recognition of your outstanding contribution to the manned space flight programs. Presented to Jon H. Brown" [an engineer of 25 years' service at NASA], autopen signed: "Christopher C. Kraft Jr." as director, Johnson Space Center, and dated "January 1981". Beneath the flag is printed: "This flag was carried to the Moon aboard the spaceship America/ Apollo XVII December 7-19, 1972". Framed to an overall 14.75" x 11.75". University Archives COA included. Flag shows normal glue bleedthrough, overall fine.
