Description

Apollo 15 Flown American Flag on Crew-Signed Mat Originally from the Personal Collection of North American Aviation President William B. Bergen. A 20" x 16" mat bearing a 7" x 7" color photo of the Command Module Endeavour, a 6" x 4" U.S. flag, a 4" embroidered mission insignia patch and a printed note: "This flag carried aboard Apollo 15 during the first extended scientific exploration of the moon, July 26-August 7, 1971." Handwritten below the photo by Al Worden is the following personal dedication: "To Bill Bergen with best wishes from/ the Apollo 15 crew. We greatly appreciate/ your friendship, support, and leadership/ throughout the Apollo program./ 15 Oct 1971" Beneath that are the crew signatures: "Dave Scott", "Al Worden", and "Jim Irwin". There is a bit of typical bleedthrough from the adhesive on the flag and the handwritten message and signatures have faded somewhat. Fine condition otherwise.
