Description

"...is one of the 3 that was flown to the Moon with me aboard our Lunar Module Intrepid..."

Apollo 12 Lunar Module Flown Grumman Diamond-Set American Flag Charm set into a Custom Sunburst Pendant Bezel, Originally Gifted by Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean to His Wife Sue, with His Handwritten and Typed Signed Letters of Certification and PPK Documentation. A 1.75" diameter bezel with pendant loop surrounding a 0.75" diameter lunar charm bearing an enameled American flag and set diamond; on the verso it reads: "Flown To The Moon By An Intrepid Crew/ Apollo XII/ November 1969/ Conrad - Gordon - Bean". One of only three such pieces flown by Bean to the lunar surface. What a nice gift this would make for the holiday season! Enamel on flag shows wear, otherwise excellent.

Included with this lot are both typed and handwritten Letters of Certification signed by Bean on his letterhead stating, in full: "I hereby certify that the accompanying gold Moon w/American flag and diamond charm, now set in a custom gold bezel, is one of the 3 that was flown to the Moon with me aboard our Lunar Module Intrepid in November 14-24, 1969. It is listed as item #4 on my LM Transfer PPK list S/N 1068. Dottie Buxton, a family friend, designed the bezel and made up the piece for me to present to my wife Sue Bean."
