Spacecraft ID plate from Apollo 11's CM Columbia
Apollo 11 Flown Command Module Spacecraft Identification Plate Display Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. A brass plate, 3.25" x 1.75" in size, mounted to a 10" x 5" x 0.75" black marble desk set. The brass plate is engraved as follows:SPACECRAFT -107

When Rockwell manufactured the Apollo spacecraft, they attached to the interior structure three identical brass identification plates signifying spacecraft number and other key manufacturing information. Upon completion of the mission, it was a tradition for Rockwell to remove these plates during their post-flight inspection of the spacecraft, add the launch date, and present them to the astronaut crewmembers as part of a special-made desk set. This is the flown Rockwell ID plate removed from the Apollo 11 Command Module Columbia (Spacecraft #7) and presented to Commander Neil Armstrong, one of the most desirable of all flown relics from the first manned moon landing. One of only three but unique as presented to the first man to walk on the moon. The Sheaffer fountain pen is present but the matching ballpoint pen is missing (could be replaced); the holders are present (one has been repaired). Light wear to the plate, very fine overall. CAG 1002007-004. This lot will include an encapsulated CAG Photo Certificate with a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.
