Apollo 11 moon-flown U.S. flag
Apollo 11 Flown American Flag with Presentation Certificate Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, Signed and Certified. A 5.875" x 4" silk U.S. flag (unmounted) with a 10" x 12" color certificate printed with the words: "This Flag Traveled to the Moon with Apollo 11, the First Manned Lunar Landing, July 20, 1969/ APOLLO 11/ July 16-24, 1969/ Armstrong - Collins - Aldrin". Printed on the lower area is the Apollo 11 mission insignia beneath which it is signed: "Michael Collins". Below is printed the immortal words Armstrong spoke as he stepped onto the moon's surface: "One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind." Collins has signed the flag on the fourth and fifth white stripes: "Carried to the Moon on Apollo XI/ July 1969 - Michael Collins CMP". Any flag carried to the moon aboard the landmark flight of Apollo 11 is a strongly sought-after space collectible. For it to be signed by and directly from the collection of crewmember Michael Collins makes it an even rarer and more desirable addition to any quality space collection.
