Wernher von Braun Typed Letter Signed, with Letters of
Authenticity from Steve Zarelli, JSA, and John Reznikoff/
University Archives. One page, 8" x 10.5", January 6, 1964,
NASA letterhead, Huntsville, Alabama, to [whited out] of
Jacksonville, Florida. It reads, in full:"I must apologize for the delay in replying to your kind letter of December 9. Somehow my personal mail became bogged down over the holidays.
"I was delighted to hear that you enjoyed my speech at Ponte Vedra. I certainly enjoyed my short stay there and only wish that my schedule would have permitted a longer visit.
"Your hunting invitation sounds very intriguing. I am always interested in hunting and would like very much to be able to accept your wonderful offer. However, for the time being, I must ask for a rain check since I am very busy helping put a man on the moon. Please keep me in mind and perhaps at some later time I may be able to come down there.
"Sincerely yours,

The name of the individual and company of which he was Chairman of the Board has been neatly "whited out" at some point. Still, it's hard to imagine a von Braun letter with a better sentence than the one bolded above. His formidable task would be achieved just 5½ years later with Apollo 11. A very desirable letter certified by three leaders of the autograph field. A tiny smear on the "her" of the name. Overall fine.
