Description

President Lyndon B. Johnson: December 1968-Dated White House Dinner Invitation and Dinner Menus (Two), Directly from The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. Just weeks before Richard Nixon's inauguration, Lyndon Johnson invites Neil and Janet Armstrong to a black tie "dinner on Monday evening, December 9, 1968 at eight o'clock". The invitation is on 6.25" x 5.25" cardstock. Also included are two dinner menus of the same size (likely they both saved theirs). Janet's menu has her handwritten notes on the verso, likely as to who was seated at their table, including "Senator Monroney" [Oklahoma Senator Mike Monroney], "Trudy Cooper" [Gordon Cooper's wife], and others. We note the dessert course is called "Moonshot Jubilee" in celebration of the upcoming Apollo missions. The invitation has a rusty paperclip mark, otherwise all excellent. Sealed in numbered archival holders, CAG 1002107-105, 1002107-006, & 1000145-015. This lot will include a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.
