Description

Apollo 10: Original "Snoopy Astronaut" Doll. A vintage Snoopy in Space doll produced around the time of Apollo 10, when Snoopy was officially adopted as NASA's safety mascot. Standing 9 inches tall, the figure wears a white satin-like spacesuit with a red zipper, American flag shoulder patch, and blue boots with bendable legs. A translucent plastic bubble helmet encloses the head, with an orange cloth scarf trailing down the back. Snoopy carries a blue case marked "SAFETY," referencing NASA's "Silver Snoopy Award" program that recognized excellence in astronaut and workforce safety. A great and fun item for display. Fine.

This collectible was part of the wave of licensed merchandise created when Charles Schulz allowed his beloved beagle to represent NASA's push for crew safety, most notably during the Apollo 10 mission. Today, it stands as one of the most charming artifacts connecting pop culture and the space program at the height of Apollo.
