Description
Apollo Saturn Mobile Service Structure (MSS) Hardware. A 2.5" x 2.125" hexagonal nut contained in a 7.25" x 5" x 0.75" clear acrylic display along with a color photo and the following text: "The Mobile Service Structure (MSS) was used throughout the Apollo program at Kennedy Space Center, Launch Complex 39. The giant structure weighed 4,763 metric tons with an overall height of 125 meters [410 feet]. The MSS provided access to both the Saturn V and Apollo Spacecraft. The structure also supported the Skylab and Apollo Soyuz Test Program. The attached metal is a portion from one of the permanently installed fire nozzles. Certified by: Angelo Taiani- Retired NASA/KSC Employee." This is #2 of a limited edition of 22. The MSS was moved around the launch complex by Crawler Transporters and, when locked in place, would provide 360° clean room access to the command, service, and lunar modules. This part was saved when the structure was scrapped in the late 1970s. In original issue box. Excellent condition.Auction Info
