Description

Apollo Command Module Environmental Control System Hardware: Three Temperature Signal Amplifiers, AiResearch Part 836056 (Contract NAS-9-150). Each metal box, 2.5" x 1.875" x 1.625", has a multi-pin electrical connector and a metal ID plate with the following information: "Amplifier Signal", part number "836056-2-1" and serial numbers "96-R1 / 96-R2 / 96-R5". The part with the "96-R5" serial number has been neatly sawn into three pieces and is held together by tape. Included are several pages copied from a 1973 abstract prepared by AiResearch for the NASA MSC titled "Environmental Control System Transducer Development Study". It describes the purpose of this component as: "The power required to operate each of the instrumentation temperature sensors is provided by the amplifier. The sensor output signal is then fed back into the amplifier where it is amplified and then transmitted to telemetry." Except for noted damage to one, very fine.
