Description
Apollo Command Module Environmental Control System Hardware: Suit Compressor Differential Pressure Transducer, AiResearch Part 837054 (Contract NAS-9-150). A metal box, 4.75" (overall) x 1.25" x 2", with a multi-pin electrical connector and two screw-on pressure connector on opposite ends. A metal ID plate along one side presents the following data: "Consolidated Controls Corp./ Bethel Connecticut/ Transducer, Pressure/ CCC Part No. 41PD34-17/ Date of Mfg. 9/66/ Mfg'd for Airesearch Per 837054-1-1/ [Serial No] 0009311". Included are several pages copied from a 1973 abstract prepared by AiResearch for the NASA MSC titled "Environmental Control System Transducer Development Study". It reads, in part: "The initial design of suit compressor differential pressure transducer PN 837054 has been implemented in Apollo ECS Block I and Block II. Because of numerous rejections as a result of unit instability this design was superseded by PN 836705 which has not been implemented in any system. The suit compressor differential pressure transducer in its Apollo application measures the gas pressure rise developed by the suit compressor. The pressure rise serves as an indication of suit compressor performance. The pressure sensing ports of the transducer are connected to the suit circuit ducting at a point upstream of the suit compressors and at a point downstream of suit compressor check valves."
