Description

Apollo 12 Flown Stainless Steel Interval Timer Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean, Certified and Signed, with Handwritten LOA. A rare and important piece of equipment used in the command module to and from the moon. It is 2.75" in diameter and 1.5" deep plus the 0.625" knob protruding. On the bottom is found an attached piece of Velcro along with the Part Numbers "SEB-33100092-002" and "SEB 33100092-301 ASSY" as well as the Serial Number "S/N - 1009". Captain Bean has written on the bottom: "Flown to/ The Moon/ Alan Bean/ Apollo 12 LMP". This is a six-minute mechanical timer with a switch that, when in the "X 10" mode, makes it a one-hour timer. The first one of these that Heritage has had the privilege to offer. Light wear, excellent.

Included in this lot is a handwritten and signed Letter of Authenticity on his personal letterhead. It reads, in full:
"I hereby certify that the accompanying stainless steel timer, serial number 1009, traveled with me to the Moon aboard the Apollo 12 mission in November of 1969.

"I used this timer when I stirred the cryogenic tanks, performed urine dumps, and other on-board procedures where accurate time intervals were needed.

"I have had this timer on my desk, and used it from time-to-time since returning from the moon.
