Official Soviet world record claims for First Group Spaceflight, made to the FAI

Vostok 3 & Vostok 4: Records File Document on the First in the World Group Space Flight by the USSR Citizens Andriyan Grigoryevich Nikolayev and Pavel Romanovich Popovich in the "Vostok-3" and "Vostok-4" Spaceships August 12-15, 1962, Signed by Nikolayev and Popovich. (Moscow: The USSR Tchkalov Central Aero Club, 1962). A 9" x 12" book bound in light blue leatherette, gilt-lettered in both Russian and English, with the embossed logo of the Central Aero Club, inside covers in silk moiré. Printed on heavy cream stock, each page within a decorative border. Text in Russian. Thirty-seven numbered pages including official certificates, telemetry charts, and calibration graphs, plus title page and numerous additional pages featuring mostly color photos mounted, recto only. These materials pertain to the missions that achieved multiple world records in duration and coordination of simultaneous manned orbital flights. Signed by numerous Soviet officials and twice each by Nikolayev and Popovich. Included is a 7" x 5" glossy B&W photo of the two seated, signing copies of this and individual reports. Excellent.

This document includes: detailed technical record sheets outlining spacecraft specifications (Vostok-3 and Vostok-4), propulsion data, mission duration, and registration details signed by Soviet flight officials; calibration charts associated with instrumentation; certification sheets bearing signatures of the Sports Commissioners of the USSR Central Aero Club; and cosmonaut and mission photographs. This file was produced in limited numbers for institutional or record-keeping purposes within Soviet aerospace circles, possibly presented to official bodies or archives connected with the FAI (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale) for world record validation. The craftsmanship and bilingual text suggest it was also intended for international recognition of Soviet achievement.

The Vostok 3 and Vostok 4 missions marked a milestone in the space race, the first time two human-piloted spacecraft operated simultaneously in orbit, communicating directly by radio. The achievement showcased Soviet prowess following Gagarin's and Titov's flights, demonstrating multi-craft coordination and extended-duration orbital flight capabilities. From an important collection of Soviet-era Space history
