Description
V-2 Test Flight for A4 V30 Report, Dated July 1943 and Signed by Wernher von Braun. Intriguing and rare report on seven 8.25" x 11.75" pages. The report is dated July 19, 1943, with "Geheime Kommandosache" stamped across the top, translating to "Secret Command". Titled "Shot Report V30 A4" this report is for a test flight of the Aggregat 4, which was the technical name of the V-2 (also referred to as "Retaliation Weapon 2"). Contains a wealth of information regarding this particular test flight at the secret German "Peenemunde" rocket research station, and from the famous Prüfstand VII (Test Stand VII). The cover page is full of technical data, including the test name (Shot Report V30), dimensions and weight (Length: 14M, Caliber: 1.65M, Curb Weight: 4030 kg, Take-off Weight 12703 kg), among many other aspects of the flight. The second page gives more information regarding the flight including the following: "Bench Tests: On Pr. VII, the coordination of the injection tests and the functional tests of the drive and the control were carried out with searches". "Shot Process: The shot was fired on June 24, 1943 at 4 p.m. at PR X from the motor battery. The ignition, the first and the second stage came out flawlessly. At about 1.08g the device lifted off the ground". This page is signed by von Braun in blue ink at close.
The remainder of the report is comprised of charts and trajectory graphs. Also included on the fourth page is an outstanding 3.5" x 4.5" B&W photo of the launch titled "V30 in Flight". All seven pages have been hand numbered by von Braun in blue ink at top right. This is an original relic of the early days of rocketry from the pioneer that would eventually be critical in the achievements of American spaceflight. Age related wear, overall fine.
