Description
Fred Haise Signed NASA Apollo 13 "Lifeboat" Memo. A 34-page memorandum, 8" x 10.5", stapled at the top left corner, dated July 14, 1970. Signed on the first page in black felt tip ink, it reads: "Apollo 13 aftermath review!" The Apollo 13 accident occurred on April 13, 1970, with an oxygen tank blowing up, resulting in the crew scrambling to save themselves from anything dire to come. Flight Director, Gene Kranz, directed the crew to use the lunar module as a "lifeboat" to get back to Earth. This memo served as a technical report for how the LM was used as a "lifeboat," with charts, diagrams, and other input necessary to support why certain decisions were made, and how "lifeboats" could be seen as needed components for future flight missions. Minor speckling to top left corner near the staple, otherwise excellent!Auction Info
