Description

Gemini 10 Collection of Flown Items (Seven) Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander John Young, Certified and Signed on the Display Frame. Mounted on gold felt in a shadowbox frame of 13" x 10" along with an unflown 3.25" x 3" embroidered mission insignia patch are seven items that went along with crewmembers John Young and Michael Collins aboard Gemini 10 during their flight, July 18-21, 1966. The items are as follows: (1) An ivory-colored Py-Co-Pay toothbrush, 6.5" long; (2) A molded plastic earpiece, 1.25" x 1" x 0.5" overall; (3) Craftsman slip-joint pliers, 6" long, with NASA-applied number "CF-55126-1 S/N 1"; (4) A flat-head screwdriver, 5.75" long, with the NASA-applied number "CF55125-2 S/N/1"; and (5-7) Three black Scripto "Classic" 1.1mm lead mechanical pencils, 5.5" long, each marked "PROPERTY U.S. GOVERNMENT" on the barrel. The NASA numbers are too faded to read clearly. The tops are Velcro-wrapped and no erasers are present. The Gemini 10 mission accomplished many important objectives including: the establishment that radiation at high altitudes was not a problem; rendezvous with two different target vehicles; multiple EVAs; and a package of scientific experiments. All items in very fine to excellent condition.

On the back panel of the shadowbox, Young has written: "All items except patch flown on Gemini X. John Young".
