Apollo 16 Flown Flashlight Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander John Young, Certified and Signed. A heavy, brass-milled two-cell flashlight, 5" in length and with a maximum diameter of 1". There are batteries inside (not examined). It has a part number of "ACR PA 5", a serial number of "2011", and a date of manufacture of "2/70" printed on the barrel. On the barrel by the NASA numbers, John Young has written in silver: "Flown on Apollo 16. John Young". "On" and "Off" are printed near the head and a piece of Velcro is attached at the top near the lens. About fine condition with some areas of pitting and verdigris; the lens is clouded from the inside.

Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Certification from John Young stating: "I hereby certify that the brass flashlight that accompanies this letter, marked as ACR PA-5, S/N 2011, DATE OF MFG 2/70, was flown to the moon and used by me aboard Apollo 16 April 16-27, 1972. It has been part of my personal collection since the mission."
