Description

PROJECT GEMINI

Gemini: Neil Armstrong's Owned and Worn Early Flight Suit Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, Certified by Collectibles Authentication Guaranty with Photo Certificate. A light blue cotton one-piece jumpsuit with a "Fosterwear/ Styled by Lou Foster" tag at the neck. There is a sewn-on 2.75" embroidered NASA "meatball" vector patch (Type II) at the left breast and an empty Velcro strip at right for affixing a nametag (not present). This 60" long suit has numerous pockets (many with zipper closings), and Velcro closings on the cloth waist belt, the cuffs, and the lower legs. This is the same type of suit worn for Project Mercury, not the later Flite Wear brand. Included with the lot are several photos of Armstrong wearing a similar (if not the same) flight suit (we note that the "pull" from the front zipper shown in these photos is absent; it was likely lost during cleaning or storage). This is one of the key items in this auction, a museum-worthy piece of Space memorabilia. General wear, a tag has been torn off the back of the upper right leg, quite clean and presentable for display. This lot will include an encapsulated CAG Photo Certificate with a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.
