Space Shuttle Challenger (STS-51-L) Crew Signatures on Two Launch Covers. As follows.
(1) An Airmail philatelic cover canceled at Kennedy Space Center on January 28, 1986, with the following signatures in various inks on individual lines: "Dick Scobee"; "Mike Smith"; "Ellison Onizuka"; "Judy Resnik"; "Ronald E. McNair"; and "S. Christa McAuliffe". Excellent.
(2) A plain cover bearing two 37ยข stamps, one canceled August 27,1985. This was the date of the STS-51-I flight of Discovery; Jarvis was initially assigned to this flight but later reassigned to the STS-51-L mission. The second cancelation is from January 28,1986. Signed in black felt tip: "Greg Jarvis". Excellent.
Included, for purposes of display or matting, are two glossy color prints, one of the crew, the other of the launch.

STS-51-L Crew Members
Francis R. Scobee (Commander): A veteran Air Force pilot and astronaut, Scobee was commanding his second spaceflight and was responsible for overall mission success.
Michael J. Smith (Pilot): A decorated Navy test pilot on his first space mission, Smith served as second-in-command and operated shuttle systems.
Ronald McNair (Mission Specialist 1): A physicist and accomplished saxophonist, McNair had previously flown on STS-41-B and was overseeing science payload operations.
Ellison S. Onizuka (Mission Specialist 2): The first Asian American in space, Onizuka had flown on STS-51-C and was tasked with deploying and managing payload systems.
Judith A. Resnik (Mission Specialist 3 / Flight Engineer): An electrical engineer and the second American woman in space, Resnik brought experience from STS-41-D and focused on engineering systems and experiments.
Gregory Jarvis (Payload Specialist): An engineer with Hughes Aircraft, Jarvis was assigned to conduct fluid dynamics experiments in microgravity during the mission.
Christa McAuliffe (Payload Specialist / Teacher in Space): A high school social studies teacher from New Hampshire, McAuliffe was selected to be the first civilian teacher in space and planned to deliver educational lessons from orbit. From the Family Collection of Jacques Bracke.
