Description

Soviet Space Program Philatelic Covers (Two): Soyuz TM-7 (Mir Aragatz) Space Mail Covers Signed by Soviet and French Cosmonauts, 1988-89. A pair of official Soviet postal covers carried aboard Soyuz TM-7 during the USSR-France cooperative mission "Aragatz." As follows.

(1) The first, bearing 1988 Soviet space commemorative stamps, was launched on November 26, 1988, with cosmonauts Alexander Volkov and Sergei Krikalev along with the French researcher Jean-Loup Chrétien who have all signed. They docked with the Mir Complex on November 28th. The mail returned to Earth on board Soyuz TM-6 on December 21, 1988 with additional signatures of Vladimir Titov, Valeri Polyakov, and Musi Manarov. Handwritten address translates: "tar City, Moscow Region, to V.R. Shapovalov On board the orbital complex MIR"
(2) The second returned to Earth aboard Soyuz TM-7 on April 27, 1989, signed as above.

Both covers are professionally mounted on a descriptive display sheet stamped on the verso by the Royal Belgian Astrophilatelic Society's late president Georges Lauwers. Excellent.

Together, these represent exceptional flown philatelic souvenirs of late-Soviet international space cooperation, with direct ties to the MIR station, the Franco-Soviet space partnership, and the longest-duration Soviet spaceflights of the era. From the Family Collection of Jacques Bracke
