Description

Apollo 12 Rare Crew-Signed "Type Four" Insurance Cover, from Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean's Personal Collection, with Certificate of Authenticity. A philatelic cover with 10¢ "First Man on the Moon" (Scott #C76) stamp affixed, bearing a pictorial machine cancellation from Kennedy Space Center dated November 14, 1969, the day that Apollo 12 was launched. The color cachet is titled "John F. Kennedy Space Center" and bears portraits of each astronaut, a lunar scene, and a Yankee Clipper ship above the text "Ocean of Storms". It has been boldly signed in black felt tip: "Charles Conrad Jr", "Dick Gordon", and "Alan L Bean". The stamp hides small portions of the Conrad and Bean signature as sometimes occurred. This is a super example of a rarely-seen cover type that was produced in small quantities. Original mission profile stiffening card enclosed. Excellent. From the estate of Moonwalker and Artist Alan Bean.
