Description

Apollo 11: First Day Cover with Flown Segment of Kapton Foil. A philatelic cover with a single stamp (Scott #C76) tied to the cover with the dual Washington DC/ Moon Landing U S A "First Day of Issue" cancellation dated September 9, 1969. The cachet is by Art Craft. Affixed to the lower right is a small segment of flown Kapton foil removed from the Command Module Columbia upon its return to earth. Included with the lot is a LOA copy from W. R. Whipkey describing his acquisition of the flown material. Very fine.
