Description

Dyna-Soar: Al Crews Signed Dyna-Soar: Hypersonic Strategic Weapons System Book and Mike Mars Flies the Dyna-Soar, Directly from the estate of Albert H. Crews. A fascinating pairing of two items celebrating the X-20 Dyna-Soar program, the United States Air Force's ambitious but ultimately canceled manned spaceplane of the early 1960s. Included is a copy of Dyna-Soar: Hypersonic Strategic Weapons System (Apogee Books, 2003) Compiled and edited by Robert Godwin, paperback, octavo, 448 pages, illustrated. The book has been signed and inscribed by original test pilot Al Crews on the title page. Crews actually replaced Neil Armstrong on the Dyna-Soar program when he was selected as one of NASA's "New Nine" astronauts. Included with the lot is an unsigned copy of Mike Mars Flies the Dyna-Soar (Doubleday & Company, New York, 1966). Authored by Donald A. Wollheim.

A great pair of books that connect the vision of Dyna-Soar as imagined by the public with the reality of its engineering development. Age related wear and toning, overall fine.
