Cased L.A.P.D. Commemorative Ithaca Model 37 Featherweight Slide Action Shotgun.Serial no. LAPD-1251, 12 gauge, 28-inch barrel with ventilated rib and fixed front bead sight. Blued finish. Elaborately scroll engraved receiver. Right side reading: TO PROTECT AND TO SERVE, along with three Los Angeles crests. Left side reading: CITY OF LOS ANGELES / 200TH ANNIVERSARY / 1781-1981 / COMMEMORATIVE. Each side accented in gilt. Checkered walnut pistolgrip stock and fore-end. Badge style grip cap marked: POLICE OFFICER / LOS ANGELES POLICE. Factory ventilated rubber recoil pad. Sold along with an extra 18 1/2-inch barrel, with fixed front and rear sights. Each barrel marked: L.A.P.D. COMMEMORATIVE. Contained in custom fitted case with literature. According to research, this is 1 of 1299 made in 1981.
Condition: Very good to excellent. Overall showing scattered signs of handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Minor scuffs and dings to wood. Noticeable ding to base of stock at recoil pad. Action good. Bright bores. Normal age and storage wear to case.
