One of Ten Crown Grades in this Configuration
Rare 20 Gauge L.C.Smith Crown Grade Sidelock Ejector in Trap Configuration.Serial no. 131348. 20 gauge. 30-inch barrels with matted flat ventilated rib. Twin white beads. Barrel flats marked: 2 3/4-inch chambers. Casehardened sidelock action with fine foliate scroll and floral engraving with game scenes in ovals with setters and pointers. Gold crown on top lever. Ejectors. Single selective "One Trigger". Non-automatic safety. Finely checkered half-pistolgrip stock of figured walnut. Round knob. Finely checkered beavertail fore-end. Modern replacement Hawkins type recoil pad. Brown leather leg-of-mutton case. L.C. Smith Collectors Association letter. DATA: Barrel Dimensions: Bore Dimensions: 0.613/0.614 inches. Chokes: 0.030/0.033 inches. (Full/Extra Full). Wall thickness: 0.033/0.030 inches. Stock Dimensions: Pull: 13 5/8 inches with 1 1/2 inch recoil pad. Drop at comb: 1 1/2 inches. Drop at heel: 2 1/4 inches. Cast: None at heel, 1/8-inches at toe of stock. Contained in leather mutton chop carrying case with the initials L.S.W.
Condition: Fine, as partially redone. Barrels show 85-90% reblued finish. Excellent bright bores. Action shows 20-30% muted case colors with areas of dark colors in protected areas. Triggerguard shows an area in the center of the bow where the engraving has been removed. Lower horns of stock shows dark areas. Stock shows light marks. Checkering shows some wear. Leather showing scuffs and scratches, inner divider is loose inside.
Note: Factory records show that of 862 Crown grades were made, 145 were in 20 gauge. Of these 29 were made with 30-inch barrels.
Only 10 of these were made with ejectors, single selective trigger and ventilated rib.
