Description
Engraved German W. Lustmann Percussion Drilling Combination Gun.Unserialized, 16 gauge and 9mm calibers, 28 1/2-inch barrel with fixed front sight and rear folding sight. Blued finish. Textured rib to top of barrel marked: W. LUSTMANN. Elaborately scroll engraved upper tang, hammers, receiver, underlever, triggerguard and base of stock. Game scenes are also engraved to the receiver. Checkered hardwood pistolgrip stock and splinter fore-end. Cheekrest to left side of stock. Sling swivels and leather shoulder sling. W. Lustmann was a German gunsmith working in Wolfenbüttel (Lower Saxony). Period auction descriptions show long guns and combinations signed "W. LUSTMANN / WOLFENBÜTTEL."
Condition: Very good. Finish primarily a dark grey patina with some thinning at muzzle, handling wear and patches of pitting. Scattered scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Action good. Lightly pitted bores. Tom Mixon Collection
