Description
Engraved English Hammerless Cape Gun.Unserialized, .32 smoothbore and .22 rifled bore, 23 3/4-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding leaf rear sight. Blued finish. Elaborately floral and game scene engraved receiver, lever and upper tang. Checkered walnut pistolgrip stock and splinter fore-end. Sling swivels. Ebony grip cap. Silver escutcheon to base of stock. Grooved hard rubber butt. Original brass museum inventory tag attached: J.M. DAVIS / 8442 / MEMORIAL.
Sold to Benefit The JM Davis Collection at the JM Davis Arms and Historical Museum.
Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 70-80% of a thinning finish, with thinning to relief edges, handling wear and patches of pitting. Heavy scuffs, dings and scratches to wood. Action good. Strong bores.
