Description
Engraved Deane & Sons Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun.Unserialized, 12 gauge, 18 1/2-inch damascus barrels with smooth rib and fixed front brass bead sight. Each side of receiver marked DEANE & SON. Scroll engraved receiver, upper tang, hammers, triggerguard and buttplate. Checkered walnut straight stock. Dual triggers. Metal tipped wooden ramrod. Blank rectangular escutcheon to top of stock.
Deane & Son, a prominent London-based gunmaker in the 19th century, was renowned for crafting high-quality shotguns, particularly during the percussion era.
Condition: Good. Finish primarily a brownish grey patina with signs of age, handling wear and patches of pitting. Scattered scuffs, dings and bruises present to wood. Small crack at wrist and some larger ones at buttplate. Actions function. Moderately pitted bores.
