Serial no. 23155. 20 gauge. 28-inch chopperlump barrels with matted rib. Barrels numbered 57013/4 and marked: J. Purdey & Son, Audley House, South Audley Street, London / Made of Sir Joseph Whitworth's Fluid Pressed Steel. Casehardened Beesley-patent self-opening sidelock action. Action and furniture with Purdey's fine rose and scroll engraving. Double triggers. Ejectors. Cocking indicators. Automatic safety with SAFE in gold. Finely checkered half pistolgrip stock of highly figured walnut. Round knob. Vacant silver oval. Finely checkered splinter fore-end with Anson-style release. Gun dates to 1926. Data: Barrel Dimensions: Bores: 0.618/0.617 inches, Chokes: 0.020/ 0.036 inches (Modified/Extra Full). Chambers: 2 ½ inches. Proof: London, Nitro, 20,20, 2 ½, 7/8 oz. Stock Dimensions: Pull: 14 ½ inches. Drop at comb: 1 ½ inches. Drop at heel: 2 7/8 inches. Cast: 1/16 inches. Weight: 5 pounds 14 ounces. Condition: Excellent, as partially redone. Barrels show 99% reblued finish. Action shows 97-98% case colors with slight carry losses to lower edge of action. Triggerguard shows 98% bright blue. Stock shows some handling marks. Later black rubber recoil pad. Fore-end shows some light marks and impressions. Barrel wall thickness is: right barrel: 0.025 inches at 17 inches from the breech, left barrel: 0.020 inches at 17 inches from the breech.
