20 Gauge Frank E. Malin & Son Victoria Grade Sidelock Ejector Double Barrel Shotgun.Serial no. 80033. 20 gauge. 27 ¾-inch chopper-lump barrels with smooth concave rib. 2 ½- inch wedges of floral design engraving with gold inlays at breech. Casehardened sidelock action with hand-detachable locks with bold foliate scroll and floral designs. Maker's name in gold with banners. Ribbed fences. Model in gold on underside. Hidden third fastener. Ejectors. Disc-set strikers. Non-selective trigger. Gas port inserts in fences. Cocking indicators. Automatic safety. Blued triggerguard with scroll engraving. Finely checkered straight stock of well figured walnut. Vacant gold oval. Finely checkered butt. Drop points. Finely checkered splinter fore-end with Anson-style release. Data: Barrel Dimensions: Bore: 0.617/0.616. Chokes: 0.005/0.009 inches (Cylinder/Improved Cylinder). Chambers: 2 ¾ inches. Minimum Wall Thickness: 0.021 inches. Proof: Spurious British Proof Marks. Stock Dimensions: Pull: 14 3/8 inches. Drop at comb: 1 3/8 inches. Drop at heel: 1 ¾ inches. No cast. Oak and leather trunk case with maker's label, cleaning rod and implements. Maroon baize interior. Brown canvas and leather case cover.
Condition: Excellent, showing some use. Barrels show 96-98% bluing with most of the losses under the fore-end. Bright bores. Action and hardware show 98-99% dark case colors. Stock shows a couple of impressions and some slight losses of finish. Case in excellent condition. Some partitions are loose and need to be re-glued.
