12 Gauge Lancaster Special Pigeon Double Barrel Shotgun. Serial no. 7683, 12 gauge, 30-inch Whitworth steel barrels with matted flat rib with doll's head third fastener. Case-hardened action with back-action rebounding locks. Border engraved action and locks. Action marked: Charles Lancaster's Special Pigeon Gun. Engraved hammer. Older replacement stock without checkering. Checkered butt. Checkered splinter pull-off fore-end.Data: Barrel dimensions: Bore dimensions: 0.736/0.734 inches. Chokes: 0.039/0.039 inches. (Full). Chambers: 2 3/4-inches. Wall thickness: 0.029 inches. Proof: London, Black Powder, 12, 12, marked: 2 3/4 cases. Stock dimensions: Pull: 14 5/8-inches. Drop at comb: 1 5/8 inches. Drop at heel: 2 5/8-inches.
Weight: 8 pounds. Condition: Barrels show a brown patina. Bores show heavy pitting from breech to 11-inches forward. Action and barrels show slight looseness. Replacement top screw. Action and locks show a silver patina. Stock shows wear to the finish and a few marks. Fore-end checkering shows wear and fore-end shows a few marks and impressions.
