12 Gauge A. Thomson Hammer Double Barrel Shotgun. Serial no. 1399. 12 gauge. 30-inch Damascus barrels with a game rib marked: Alexr Thomson & Son, 3 Hanover Street, Edinburgh. Barrels numbered: 1424. Casehardened action and bar action rebounding locks engraved with 80% fine foliate scroll. Sculpted high hammers. Percussion fences. Checkered straight grip stock of well figured walnut. Horn buttplate. Finely checkered splinter fore-end with Deeley-Edge style release. Horn fore-end tip.

Data: Barrel Dimensions: Bores: 0.740/0.738 inches. Chokes: 0.011/0.009 inches (Improved Cylinder). Chambers: 2 1/2 inches. Minimum wall thickness: 0.026 inches. Proof: London Nitro Reproof, .740, .740, 2 1/2, LP74. Stock Dimensions: Pull: 14 1/2 inches. Drop at comb: 1 5/8 inches. Drop at heel: 2 1/2 inches. Cast: none. Weight: 6 pounds, 13 ounces.
Condition: Fine, as partially redone. Barrels show 95-97% older rebrowning with some losses at the muzzle. Four nicks on the top of the barrels. Excellent bright bores. Action shows a silver gray patina. Action screws show slight marring. Left hammer is bent inward. Stock shows some light marks and a few nicks and impressions. Stock shows a small 1/4 inch long crack at rear of left lock. Fore-end shows a small loss to the edge.
