Description

William Henry Harrison: Inauguration Ball Invitation. 5" x 8" engraved invitation on coated stock to the "1841 [Harrison] Inauguration Ball" at the Washington Assembly Rooms. The name of the guest, "Mrs. Derby", is inscribed in ink. This was one of two inauguration balls held in Washington that evening. Webster, Bell, Crittenden and John Todd Stuart are listed among the managers. One faint mark in the field next to the portrait with some very minor discoloration in the lower left corner. Exceptional condition overall, especially for a coated stock card which tends to degrade and turn black or pink. Hard to improve upon.
