Description

Massive 14-karat Gold Medal from the Dedication of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. A most imposing 2 ½-inch medal of 120.7 dwt (6 troy oz.), it was presented to the late President's long-time friend Kirk LeMoyne "Lem" Billings for the work he did on the Kennedy Center. The obverse features a profile of Kennedy, while the reverse shows the Center along with details of the dedication. Designed and signed by Paul Jennewein and produced by the Medallic Arts Company, marked 14K, and reputedly one of only ten struck. Beautiful condition, and housed in its elegant original presentation case. Provenance: John McInnis Auctioneers "The Legends Auction", November 2013, lot 387.
