Description

Lewis Cass: Large Number One Medal. This is DeWitt LC-1848-1 in white medal and measures 40 mm. across. It is an original striking, holed at the top as are all original strikings. It grades Extremely Fine. The back has a small amount of the original luster remaining. The front has evenly toned a light gray. Leonard was the engraver and he is known for his rather homely portraits of Clay, Taylor and Cass. Needless to say, his career was short-lived.
