Description

Theodore Roosevelt: Pyrography Stein. This tapered wooden stein or flagon was produced during TR's presidency. The designs are produced using a wood-burning technique known as pyrography. The top is inscribed "Good Health" and the central portion has an American eagle with shield and a portrait of Roosevelt. The lid is decorated with a wreath of flowers. The body of the stein is ribbed in two places. There is a three-line indecipherable inscription on the base and "B5" written in pencil. Outside of a few splotches of yellow paint near the bottom, on the side, it is in excellent condition. It is the first example we have come across.
