Description

Theodore Roosevelt and Booker T. Washington: Iconic Equality Print. 16" x 12" [sight] print titled: "Equality. Dinner Given at the White House By President Theodore Roosevelt to Booker T. Washington, October 17th, 1901". TR and Booker T. are seated at the dinner table under the benevolent gaze of Abraham Lincoln. Published by Royal Picture Gallery of Chicago in 1903. The event spawned a great deal of controversy and was a public relations mistake Roosevelt never repeated. This print was popular among the African American population and likely held a place of honor in many homes. Printed on glossy stock. Double-matted and framed (not examined out of frame). Great condition and hard to find so nice.
