Description
Zachary Taylor: Highly Unusual Silk Bandanna. 31" x 25" silk bandanna, affixed to board with red tape at the edges, titled: "Gen. Taylor. Hero of Buena Vista". It shows Taylor within a star-studded oak wreath, above draped flags, an eagle, shield, mortar, cannon and cannon balls. The battle is shown at the bottom. It has a decorative, red paisley border. There are glue stains around the perimeter, some damp stains, a greenish stain in the middle (towards the bottom) and one small area of loss in the right border. Given its age and silk composition, many of these defects are to be expected. Considering its size and fine graphics, it remains a significant item and likely the sole survivor.Auction Info
