Description

William Henry Harrison: Daniel Webster Campaign Speech Printed on Silk with Transmittal Letter. 8.25" x 9" textile titled "Mr. Webster's Address to The Ladies of Richmond, in the Log Cabin, On Wednesday, October 7, 1840." A unique artifact reflecting women's influence in the political process. The Southern connection is an added bonus. Unlisted in Threads. Sold with an October 13, 1840 letter written from Richmond to the writer's niece, referencing Webster's speech which he attended and hoping that the "contemptable prejudice of one portion of the Union against the other" will cease.

Condition: Edges folded over and glued to a thin board. Small indentations around the outer edges corresponding to nails used framing the piece. Very good. Nice sheen. Letter is excellent.
