Ulysses S. Grant: A Dramatic Large 1868 Silk Campaign Flag. There are rare occasions when superlatives fail, leaving us simply open-mouthed in amazement. When we first laid eyes on this flag in-person, our reaction was numb surprise. I'm certain the lucky winner of this portrait flag for Ulysses S. Grant will undoubtedly feel the same! We have handled only one other similar flag, found within the Collection of David and Janice Frent, that flag selling for $62,500. The flag offered here while having similar oval portrait and star configuration in the canton, features a different slogan evoking a much more distinctly "campaign" message, with "The People's Choice" appearing above Grant's image. An example of this flag is pictured as item 346 in Threads, however, the names "Grant & Colfax" appear larger in size on this particular flag. We could go on and on with descriptive text, but the item speaks volumes with just its display presence!Condition: The flag measures 22" x 33" and is in impeccable condition with vibrant colors and crisp appearance.
