Description

Ulysses S. Grant: 1868 Campaign Jugate Flag on Its Original Stick. Threads #349, glazed cotton flag 10.5" x 16.5", on a 25" long wood dowel. A fabulous example with great jugate images and bold colors! The woodcut portraits have a folksy feel about them, the flag is rarely seen attached to its original stick, an even more enticing aspect. The flag is presented most tastefully juxtaposed on a deep royal blue art board, a thin wood moulding frames the title plate identifying the candidates and election. Unframed, the whole display is ready to be installed into a custom shadow box frame of the owner's choice. We think the professional treatment and overall artistic presentation greatly enhances the character and appeal of this exceptional flag. A prize display for the most discerning collector!

Condition: The flag has slight discoloration from age at the lower left edge. There are no holes or tears. It is carefully and properly archivally attached with thread at various intervals along the royal blue art board The item is easily removed if one chose to do so. The display measures 20.5" x 28.5" overall. Aesthetic presence is simply superb!
