Description
Marquis de la Fayette: Exceptional Silk Handkerchief. 29 1/2" x 35" silk handkerchief, listed as Threads #65, printed in orange and brown against a yellow ground. It has repeating images of "Fayette" and the slogan "The Nation's Guest". It was issued to commemorate the Marquis' visit to America in 1824-1825. There is a small repair on the extreme right edge, at the central fold, and someone has written "1824" in small letters; otherwise, it is in great shape, remarkably so considering its age and composition.Auction Info
