Description

Declaration of Independence Bandana. Listed in Threads of History by Herbert Ridgeway Collins as number 23, this specimen is in even better condition than the plate shown on the page and is red and yellow rather than black and white. It measures 30" x 32.75" and features portraits of George Washington in the center top, flanked by Thomas Jefferson and John Adams on either side. The Declaration of Independence with signatures can be seen at the center of the kerchief, framed with oak leaves, an eagle, state seals, and more. Some minor scattered staining is present, and some white and pink-colored accretions are at the lower center. The left top corner has some loss and fraying. The expected folding and wear are present throughout, and a small piece of fabric is affixed to the back of the right corner bearing a handwritten name. In overall great condition. A fine display item.
