Description

Benjamin Harrison: Harrison & Morton 1888 Campaign Handkerchief. A 23 3/8" x 22 1/2" campaign handkerchief, framed to an overall size of 34" x 33", featuring portrait medallions of the 1888 Republican ticket, Benjamin Harrison and Levi P. Morton. Centered within a 46-star flag motif appears the word "Protection." The single word slogan was a reference to the party's strong advocacy of protective tariffs.

Harrison and Morton were victorious in the 1888 election, though their administration was limited to one term before Grover Cleveland reclaimed the presidency in the 1892 rematch (inaugurated 1893).

Condition: Not examined out of the frame. Scattered staining throughout. A single small hole towards bottom of the bandana.
