Andrew Jackson: Farewell Address on Silk....
Description
Andrew Jackson: Farewell Address on Silk. An approximately 18 1/2" x 25 3/4" silk printing of President Andrew Jackson's March 4, 1837 Farewell Address, framed to 29 1/2" x 36 3/4", and published at the New York Times Office. Issued at the close of Jackson's second term, the address emphasizes national unity and warns against sectional division and disunion. The text concludes with his valedictory words: "I thank God that my life has been spent in a land of liberty... I bid you a last and affectionate farewell."An attractive and uncommon presentation of Jackson's parting message, rendered in decorative silk for display.
Condition: Not examined out of the frame. One horizontal crease along integral fold. Excellent, otherwise.
