Description

Abraham Lincoln: "Honest Abe" Mourning Handkerchief. 16" x 16" (unfolded) silk mourning handkerchief for Abraham Lincoln. Embroidered in one corner is a decorative motif with "Honest Abe" in the center. In another corner in period ink is the name "Catherine E. Lewis", presumably the former owner of the piece. While mourning ribbons, song sheets and other ephemera regularly appear on the market, this hanky is the only example we know of.

Condition: Folds, light age. Overall fine.
