Abraham Lincoln: Very Rare 1864 Joke Book. Old Abe's Jokes: Fresh from Abraham's Bosom. New York: T. R. Dawley, 1864. 8vo. Publisher's yellow printed wrappers, bound in string as issued. The book contains stories, mostly with an ethnic bent, that were ascribed to Lincoln (our first president with a sense of humor), although he had little or nothing to do with them. First issued in 1863, this is the second printing.Condition: Scattered soiling with minor edgewear. Near complete loss to titled spine with adhesive remnants visible. Rear cover detached but present. Pastedown on front cover for retailer Hunter & Co.
